WordRight Solutions is owned and operated by Jim West, a graduate of Southern Ill. University, where he majored in photojournalism. After more than a decade with a major newspaper, he's put his love for words to a different sort of use.
Our professions are true "word geeks," holding advanced degrees in associated areas. We specialize in the U.S. style of language, but we're comfortable with British English as well.
At WordRight, we're serious about security. For your valuable and time-consuming projects, we employ secure file transfer protocols. In addition, our "readers" sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure the privacy of your documents.
These essential writing services once were executed strictly "by hand," using a variety of symbols to denote corrections. A second worker would then rewrite the documents in their entirety. While these "shorthand" methods continue today, computer programs, such as MSWord, have grown in popularity. In either case, human participation remains essential.
Most proofreading projects are billed at 2.5 cents per word, or $25.00 per 1,000 words. We suggest you send a small-ish (but not too small) sample of the work and we'll respond with a quote. And don't worry, you'll find our prices on the sunny side of average.
Like everyone in the marketplace, we charge for what we do. But yes, we sometimes offer discounts. In fact, as an introductory offer to FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS ONLY, we've reduced our per word proofreading rate to just 1.8 cents per word. Please note that the discount is unavailable for fewer than 1,000 words, or $18. To take advantage of this short-term discount, please include the word "spaceship" in your correspondence. Ask also about a similar discount for our copy editing work.
Authorial Voice is how the author states his or her message within a document. It's considered by many copy editors and experienced writers to be the most important element in any form of writing. Authorial Voice should be perceived as strong, natural, rhythmic, and even "textured." It's the main source of power in your writing — a veritable force that compels your readers to "listen." At WordRight Solutions, copy editors keep a "close ear" to your writing voice and may rewrite certain sentences for consistency. But keep in mind that it's YOUR voice we listen to. If our adjustments don't suit your style, we'll take another look.
